昨年の8月にファーストアルバム『My Electric Fantasy』を発表した東京出身のロックバンドLooprider（ループライダー）の2枚目となるアルバム『Ascension（アセンション）』が国内インディーズレーベルCall And Response Recordsより5月4日（水）に数量限定で全国リリースすることが決定しました。
前作のヘヴィーなシューゲイザーサウンドからは一転。今回の『Ascension』はハードコアやノイズを取り入れたバンドのもう一つの顔を表現。アルバムのベーシックトラックは半日の即興セッションで制作・レコーディングされ、その後1年半の間、活動の合間で音の追加・調整がされた。
前作から約9ヶ月後に発表される今作はhenrytennisなどに携わっているアメリカ出身のドラマーSean McGeeや、ロンドン結成のノイズポップデュオUmezからボーカリストのSachiko Fukudaが参加。アートワーク・デザインは、初音ミクの総合イベント『マジカルミライ2014』のオフィシャルイラストを提供したイラストレーターのナスタケオが担当。
アルバムリリースに先駆け、収録曲の『FANTÔMAS』を本日からSoundcloudにて公開。又5月7日（土）には東京、東高円寺二万電圧にてリリースパーティーを行うことが決定している。

Ryotaro Aokiを中心に2013年に結成された東京出身のロックバンド。2015年8月にCall And Response Recordsからファーストアルバム「My Electric Fantasy」をリリース。ロック、シューゲイザー、ノイズ、メタル、ハードコアなどを融合したサウンドには一箇所には留まりたくない、常に変化していたいという彼らの強い意志が示されている。Loopriderにとってポップとノイズは表裏一体にすぎない。
ライブバンドにはギタリストHaruka、ベーシストのWookee、ドラマーのSeanと共に4人編成として、都内を中心に自主企画「Pop Sabbath!」を定期的に開催してライブ活動を行っている。

Looprider will return with its second album, Ascension, to be released on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from Japanese independent record label Call And Response Records. The release comes just nine months after the group’s first album, My Electric Fantasy, which was released in August 2015. Frantic, chaotic and noisy, the nine track album sees the band turning to hardcore and the experimental.

Recorded during the mixing of My Electric Fantasy, Ascension shows another side of songwriter and the band’s driving force Ryotaro Aoki’s musical palette, this time channeling 80s DC hardcore, the soundscapes of Japanese noise artists such as Incapacitants and Merzbow, and the hyperkinetic freak outs of noise rockers Melt-Banana. The album’s basic tracks were recorded during a half-day improvisation session in 2014 and were then tweaked and added to over the course of the next year and a half in between other activities.

Ascension features collaborations with American drummer Sean McGee and vocalist Sachiko Fukuda of noise pop duo Umez. Illustrator Nasutakeo, who has contributed artwork to the official Hatsune Miku expo, “Magical Mirai 2014” and artwork for My Electric Fantasy, returns to provide both a visual contrast and continuity between the two albums.

Ascension will be released in both digital and physical formats. The CD version of the album will be a limited run release and will be available online and through record stores and other physical distribution outlets across Japan.

About Looprider:
Formed by Ryotaro Aoki, Looprider is a rock band based in Tokyo, Japan. The group released its first album, My Electric Fantasy, in August 2015 from Japanese imprint Call And Response Records. Combining a mix of rock, shoegaze, noise, metal and hardcore, the band is a reflection of Aoki’s diverse interests and also an unwillingness to stay in one place or sound for too long. For Looprider, noise and pop are simply two sides of the same coin.

For the live incarnation of the band, Aoki is joined by guitarist Haruka Sato, bassist Hideaki “Wookee” Usuki, and drummer Sean McGee for a two-guitar, four-piece line-up. The band currently plays shows in Tokyo and regularly hosts its self-curated events, “Pop Sabbath!” inviting bands from the local scene to create a context to better showcase the band’s own musical output.

Looprider初となるミニアルバム”My Electric Fantasy”（マイ・エレクトリック・ファンタジー）が2015年8月19日(水)にCall And Response Recordsからリリース決定。東京・高円寺を拠点とする音楽ライター／イベンターのIan Martinが率いる当レーベルは、これまでに百蚊、地盤沈下、Hysteric Picnicなど、全国から様々なジャンルやシーンのアンダーグラウンドアーティストの作品を発表してきた。レーベルの新たなる方向性を決定づける本作品は「夢の終わり」をテーマにブラック・サバス、マイ・ブラッディ・ヴァレンタイン、スマッシング・パンプキンズなどを日本のロックとポップスと融合をした、ストレートかつエッジーでヘビーなハイブリッドギターサウンド。
今作の参加ミュージシャンはhenrytennisなどに携わっているアメリカ出身のドラマーSean McGeeや、Yogee New Wavesなどでサポートベーシストとして活動しているYujiro Imada。他にはロンドン結成のノイズポップデュオUmezからボーカリストのSachiko FukudaとギタリストのNiiyan、逃した魚の元ドラマーTakumi Bennett Aoki、そして元ガールズバンドMerpeoplesのボーカリストCharlotteが参加。
